Tracey focuses on the impacts of climate change on the Southern Ocean ecosystem, using the leopard seal, an Antarctic apex predator, as an indicator of large-scale changes. Tracey’s post-doctoral career includes the appointments of Research Biologist and Director of the Australian Marine Mammal Research Centre, Zoological Parks Board of NSW/ Faculty of Veterinary Science, University of Sydney.  In 2008 Tracey moved to the Evolution and Ecology Research Centre at the University of New South Wales. Her research covers two main areas, the changes in the seals’ diet over time and changes in habitat use by the leopard seals.

In 2009, Tracey became the NSW Tall Poppy Ambassador.
