Professor Peter Rathjen

University of Adelaide

Peter has gained an international reputation for his work in molecular genetics and mammalian development. A major focus of Peter’s work has been the control of stem cell differentiation. This research has considerable implications for understanding the molecular basis of animal development, and is finding application in the development of new gene and cell therapies for human disease. Patents arising from this work are also being developed, and are expected to be of major commercial and therapeutic value.

In 2006, Peter assumed to role of Dean of the Faculty of Science at the University of Melbourne. He continues to assist the Tall Poppy Campaign in Victoria.
