The AIPS is pleased to announce that The Hon Nicola Roxon MP, Minister for Health and Ageing, will present a Post Budget Health Briefing at a breakfast hosted by AIPS on Thursday 15 May in Canberra.
NSW/ACT Young Tall Poppy Science Awards announced 26 October 2006
2006 NSW/ACT Young Tall Poppy Science Award winners were announced at an Awards Ceremony at NSW Parliament House on the 26th of October 2006.
Mr Col Gellatly, Director General of the Premier’s Department, presented the Awards together with Professor Rick McLean, Chair of the Australian Institute of Policy and Science (AIPS) and the Tall Poppy Campaign.
The Guest Speaker at the Awards, which was attended by 170 people from the scientific and education communities, was Dr Tim Entwisle, Executive Director of the Botanic Gardens Trust, Sydney.

Nobel
Prize Winners Recognised as "Tall
Poppies"
The winners of the Nobel Prize for Medicine, Barry Marshall and Robin Warren, were recognized as Australian "Tall Poppies" in 1998 when they were awarded the inaugural Florey Medal by the Australian Institute of Policy & Science. The Florey Medal is part of the Institute's Tall
Poppy Campaign
which recognizes outstanding achievements
by Australian scientists.

Australia Tall Poppy of the
Year announced on Tuesday
16 August 2005
On the 16 August 2005, The Australian Institute of Policy & Science announced the Tall Poppy Science Awards at the Hyatt Regency. One recipient of the Tall Poppy Science Awards was awarded the honor of South Australia's Tall Poppy of the Year by Baroness Professor Susan Greenfield.

The
Norman Cowper Oration, established
in 1982, commemorates Sir
Norman Cowper, a foundation
director and Chairman of the
Institute.
The annual Peter Wilenski Memorial Lecture was established in 1995 and commemorates Dr Peter Wilenski AC, a renowned public servant who served as a Director of the Australian Institute of Policy & Science.
