QLD School Events
Events for schools in Queensland are currently being planned. Students will be able to participate in a range of activities including multi and single school events.
School visits can include one class or a whole grade with 1,2 or 3 scientists visiting.

Tall Poppy regional tour
Monday 11 July – Wednesday 13 July
Featuring Dr Kerry Manton. Other Participants: QUT – ihbi postgraduate students (Mr Abhishek Kashyap; Ms Manas Sivaramakrishnan ; Mr Saeed Shahhossein Dastjerdi) and Extreme Science Program (Ms Megan O’Loughlin; Mr Neil Shackel); CRC Wound Management Innovation (Ms Kellie Broderick; Ms Clare Hunter); local DEEDI scientists (Hugh Brier, Chris Abbot)
Monday
Free Science activities, displays at Kingaroy Town hall followed by a meeting of QUT and local DEEDI scientists. The Event was open to general public, teachers and students and was free.
Tuesday
Visited Kingaroy State High school for presentation on Cell Migration to year 10-12 science students. Students from year 10-12 took part in Extreme Science nanotechnology workshops. Lunchtime ‘meet the scientists’ in school library. Students from Kingaroy State School visited the high school to take part in the Extreme Science Dudesville forensics workshop.
Wednesday
Visited Nanango State High School for DNA and biofuels workshops for Year 12 Chemistry and Year 9 Biology students and teachers, and talks on university study options. Concurrent Extreme Science workshops were held at Kingaroy State School first for Year 10-12 Biology students (biotechnology) workshop and Year 11/12 Chemistry (nanotechnology).
