Professor Peter Rathjen

Peter Rathjen B.Sc. (Hons) (Adel) D.Phil. (Oxon) is the Vice Chancellor of the Unviersity of Tasmania, having served as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) at the University of Melbourne till February 2011. Prior to this position he was Dean of the Faculty of Science at the University of Melbourne from 2006 – 2008. Professor Rathjen has also served or continues to serve on a number of Boards including the Florey Neuroscience Institutes (FNI), the Australian Science Media Centre (AusSMC), the Victorian Institute for Chemical Sciences Limited (VICS) and the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research (WEHI). Peter is also Patron of the Science Teachers’ Association of Victoria (STAV) and is a former AIPS Young Tall Poppy, having served AIPS as both South Australian and Victorian Tall Poppy Campaign Ambassador.
