Congratulations to our eight 2010 SA Young Tall Poppy Science Award winners, announced at a breakfast function on Tuesday 10 August at the Observatory Function Centre in Hackney. They are:

And finally, but by no means last, our Young Tall Poppy of the Year 2010:

NHMRC Career Development award, The University of Adelaide
The awards were presented with guest speakers including His Excellency Rear Admiral Kevin Scarce AC CSC RAR, Governor of South Australia; the Hon Jack Snelling, Minister for Science & Information Economy; Professor John Hopwood, Head Lysysomal Diseases Unit, SA Pathology and winner of the AIPS CSL Florey Medal 2009 amongst other accolades; and Professor Tanya Monro, Director of the Institute for Photonics and Advanced Sensing and the Centre for Expertise in Photonics, The University of Adelaide, also joint winner of the Scientist of the Year in the SA Science Excellence Awards 2010.
