Tall Poppy Campaign Involvement
Our Tall Poppies Dr Craig Williams and Dr Natasha Harvey (2007-2008) were the Masters Of Ceremonies for the Oliphant Awards Ceremony. In addition the Tall Poppy Campaign sponsored the following prizes:
R-7 Awards
One prize was awarded in the Experiment category and went to:
Jinae Baker from Prescott Primary Southern receives the Tall Poppies prize for an outstanding entry with investigation and research for the experiment ‘How clean are your hands?’
Year 8-12 Awards
One prize was awarded for Yr 8, Yr 9-10 and Yr11-12
The Year 8 prize was awarded to the models and Inventions Category and went to:
Christian Jungfer, Jake Plane & Cameron Birrane from Unley High School for their entry ‘Home-made Speaker’
The Year 9-10 prize was awarded to the Experiment Category and went to:
Emma Chin from Unley High School for her entry ‘Mobile Phones and Electromagnetic Emissions’
The Year 11-12 prize was awarded to the Experiments Category and went to:
Benjamin Harrison from Urrbrae Agricultural High School for his entry ‘The effects of Soil pH on Legume Nodulation’
Benjamin Harrison is the 2009 Oliphant award recipient for outstanding science content. Benjamin's entry is in the running for the National BHP Billiton Science Awards which is to be announced in early 2010.
