2009 CSL Florey Medal

 

 

The 2009 CSL Florey Medal and $25,000 prize has been awarded to Professor John Hopwood, for his life-long work into the diagnosis and treatment of genetically inherited disorders that affect children with devastating clinical effects leading to progressive destruction of the brain and other organs.

The CSL Florey Medal nominations for 2009 opened on 30 April 2009 and closed at midnight AEST on 29 June 2009. The award recognises an Australian biomedical researcher for significant achievements in biomedical science and human health advancement for research primarily conducted in Australia.

 

The CSL Florey Medal winner was announced in Sydney on the evening of Monday 9 November in partnership with AAMRI (Australian Association of Medical Research Institutes) and CSL Limited. The winner will be available to promote biomedical research and discovery over 2010 through select and negotiated public and media engagements in line with the AIPS commitment to promoting science engagement.
