Victorian / Tasmanian Tall Poppy Campaign
The Tall Poppy Campaign has been in operation in Victoria since 2000 and was launched for Tasmania in 2009 with a call for Young Tall Poppy Science Award nominees from both states. In 2010, Awards are being made separately in Tasmania.
Young Tall Poppy Science Awards ceremonies have been held each year and the Tall Poppies Reaching Students Program engages the Award winners in activities to promote further study, understanding of and careers in the sciences to students, parents and teachers. Additional activites are promoted to engage the broader community and policy makers.

A comprehensive program of school visits, work experience, laboratory visits and themed seminars has been developed for the 2010 school year in consultation with individual schools, and community, higher education, industry and government partners. Many opportunities exist, including requesting Young Tall Poppies to visit your school or to engage in your local initiative or a broader partnership in 2010 and beyond.
Awards in Tasmania were launched for the first time in 2009, and awarded on 17 September 2009. This year the Tasmanian Awards will be made on 12 August 2010, hosted by the Governor of Tasmania. Please watch this space to see updates on plans for our Tasmanian program for 2010.
